On 8 December 2025, the Footcare Family visited the Centre of Orthopaedics Pretoria for an engaging, educational session focused on improving foot health and strengthening collaboration in patient care.

During the visit, Dr Jaco Naude addressed the team about identifying neuromas and determining when patients should be referred for specialised management. A neuroma, most often a Morton’s neuroma, arises when tissue around a nerve in the foot thickens due to irritation or compression. This typically occurs between the toes and can cause burning pain, tingling, numbness, or the feeling of standing on a small pebble. Early detection is crucial, as patients who do not respond to conservative treatments like footwear modification or orthotics may benefit from further evaluation by an orthopaedic foot and ankle specialist.
